The CybSafe platform makes it extremely easy for you to send your people nudges or alerts. The two are distinct from each other however and serve different purposes in your organisation. Let's find out what those differences are:

nudge vs alert

What is a CybSafe behaviour nudge?

A CybSafe nudge (or behaviour nudge) is a message, notification or prompt made with the express aim of influencing a specific security behaviour.

They’re designed to enable you to drive lasting behaviour change by gently “nudging” at exactly the time that you need to. Using a range of dynamic interventions and automated user prompts, you can easily set up behaviour change campaigns targeting the risky behaviours that threaten your organisation.

What are CybSafe alerts?

A CybSafe Alert on the other hand is a message, notification or prompt designed simply to inform somebody of something.

So you can send a real time alert to inform your users of important information whenever you think necessary, such as during an incident. Alerts can be tailored to the relevant audience and fully customised to fit your specific context.

For example, a notification about an ongoing incident, an alert about some new materials for your security champions network, or a warning about a fraudulent phone call campaign targeting your organisation’s admin assistants.

CybSafe alerts particularly come into their own during an incident, when email or intranet pages may not be the best way to keep your people updated. You might not have time to wait for internal comms or newsletters either. CybSafe alerts allows you to push out urgent short-form content to the right users, at the right time, with the right context.

Why do we differentiate between the two?

CybSafe is the world’s leading behavioural security platform. Our focus is on influencing and measuring changes in security behaviour. We’ve put a lot of thought into nudges and are continually improving them.

CybSafe nudges are designed in a scientific way with behaviour change in mind. Our scientists and product teams lean heavily on our proprietary, data-led model of human behaviour and leverage SebDB, the world’s most comprehensive security behaviour database.

We take behaviour nudges extremely seriously and over time you’ll see them get more intelligent and even more effective.

So, there you have it: Nudges, designed to influence security behaviours. Alerts, designed to inform.
