Challenges are timed content events. Over a set period, your people open one door a day to discover a short, practical piece of security guidance. Each day builds on the last, turning a single topic into a habit rather than a one-off lesson.
What’s inside a Challenge?
Every day is a bitesize piece of content, but the format varies to keep things fresh. Across a Challenge, your people might find:
Tips they can apply straight away.
Real-world incidents that show how attacks play out.
Myths, tasks and posters that get them thinking.
The odd quiz question to check understanding.
The level of interaction changes day to day. Some doors are simply there to read, others challenge the learner to complete a small task or answer a question. When someone answers a question incorrectly, we show them the right answer, so every door teaches something.
The experience
There's nothing for your people to install or sign up for. Once a Challenge is switched on:
A new door is ready to open each day at midnight UTC.
They'll spot it on their home tab, with a link through to the day's content. They can also visit the Challenges page directly to see the full grid.
Only today's door and earlier ones are available. Future days stay shut until their date arrives.
Past doors stay open, so people can catch up whenever suits them.
There are no notifications or emails. Challenges sit quietly in the platform for people to discover and enjoy. Nothing is pushed to an inbox, and nothing happens without someone choosing to open a door.
Turning Challenges off or on
Challenges are controlled by a single setting, so you decide whether your people see them. To switch Challenges on or off:
Go to Advanced settings.
Open User interface settings.
Find Enable challenges and toggle it on or off.
With the setting on, the current Challenge appears on your people's home tab and Challenges page. With it off, it's hidden from everyone in your workplace.
A note on status.
A Challenge that's ready but hasn't started yet shows as Active (scheduled). If you haven't enabled the setting, it shows as Disabled instead. If you have enabled the setting, the challenge will switch itself on when its start date arrives and bows out after its end date, so you don't need to schedule or end anything yourself.
Reporting on engagement
Once Challenges are switched on and people start opening doors, you can track engagement from the Learning reports area, under the Challenges tab. You'll find:
An overview of your current (or most recent) Challenge, with engagement stats at a glance.
A table of all editions, so you can look back at previous ones.
A detail page for each edition, with a completion-over-time chart and a table showing where each person has got to.
You can filter by group, and choose which edition you're looking at.
We track engagement, not scores. Reporting shows whether your people are opening doors and taking part, not whether they answered questions correctly. Someone counts as having completed a Challenge once they've opened every released day (and submitted the quiz, where there is one). Challenges are about building good habits, so the focus is on taking part, not passing a test.
The Challenges tab appears once the setting is on. It'll be empty until people start opening doors, so don't worry if there's nothing there before your Challenge begins.

CybSafe builds every Challenge. For now, all content is created by us and ready to go, so there's nothing for you to write or assign. Building and editing your own Challenges isn't available yet, but it's on our radar.
It's all or nothing, for now. A Challenge runs for your whole workplace or not at all. You can't yet target specific people or groups.
