Audience filters can use the directory data you already sync into CybSafe. This article shows you how to build an audience from it.
Before you start
The identity and HR fields only appear once attribute syncing is on for your account and your identity provider is sending the data. If you don't see Department or Hire date in the picker, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Reporting-line filters need your identity provider to send each person's manager. For Microsoft Entra ID, follow How to sync the line manager attribute from Microsoft Entra ID.
Build the audience
Open the campaign, workflow, notification or dynamic group you want to target and go to the audience step.
Open Add a filter and choose a field, for example Department.
Pick the operator. For text fields, Is equal to needs an exact match and Contains matches part of a value. Neither is case-sensitive.
Type the value exactly as it appears in your identity provider, for example
Finance.Check the estimated audience. If it shows none, the value probably doesn't match what's synced. Check the spelling against your identity provider.
Add more filters if you need them and choose All filters or Any filter to say how they combine. See Understanding audience filters: any vs all.
Target new starters
Choose Hire date and Is within (days), then enter the number of days, for example 30. The rule re-evaluates as people are added, so an onboarding campaign built this way picks up new joiners without you touching it.
Target a manager's team
Choose Directly reports to for a manager's immediate team, or Reports to (any level) for everyone below them. Then pick the manager. The picker only lists people who currently have direct reports in CybSafe.
FAQs
Why does my rule match nobody?
The value is free text. Check the spelling against your identity provider, and check the people you expect actually have that attribute synced. Your Customer Success Manager can confirm what's stored for a person.
Does "Is not equal to" include people with no value?
Yes. To target people with no value, use None instead.
Someone manages a team but "Is a manager" doesn't match them.
Is a manager only counts direct reports who are active in CybSafe. If their team hasn't been added yet, they won't count as a manager.
Can I use these fields in reports?
Not yet. They drive audiences only, so they affect reports through the campaigns and workflows you target with them.
Can my people see this data?
No. It's only used by admins to build audiences.
