At CybSafe, we offer several ways for your users to access and engage with learning content. Depending on your organisation's needs and the systems you're using, you can choose from different methods of deployment. This article will guide you through the available options and help you decide which is best for your organisation.

Methods of Accessing Learning

There are three main ways users can access learning content on CybSafe:

  1. CybSafe Platform

  2. LMS using SSO links

  3. LMS using SmartSCORM

Deployment Options for Accessing Learning

1. CybSafe Platform

If you choose to deploy learning directly through the CybSafe Platform, your users will access directly the full suite of CybSafe’s features (like 'Advice') whilst completing their learning. As admins, you will also benefit from in-depth reporting if users complete the training in the Platform.

Pros:

  • Access to the full suite of features in the CybSafe Platform.

  • Ability to use nudges (if in package purchased) to promote and engage users in different parts of the CybSafe Platform.

  • Detailed and comprehensive reporting on user data.

Cons:

  • No major downsides when using the full platform directly.

2. LMS via SSO Links

With this method, users access CybSafe content through your existing LMS via Single Sign-On (SSO) links. This can offer a seamless experience for users who are already familiar with your LMS, but requires manual configuration on your part. See here on how to create SSO links.

Pros:

  • Users can access the full suite of CybSafe features while remaining within your LMS.

  • If your users are already accustomed to using the LMS, this method provides continuity in their learning experience.

Cons:

  • The experience may feel less cohesive compared to using the CybSafe Platform directly.

  • You’ll need to manually create learning objects in the LMS and ensure the correct links are set up for users to access CybSafe content.

  • Results are not automatically returned to the LMS upon completion. Results will either need to be manually uploaded to the LMS using a CSV import or a connector built to our API (Bolt on required).

  • Training needs to be assigned manually in both the LMS and CybSafe, which can be time-consuming and you might not make the full use of some features (eg workflows)

3. LMS via SmartSCORM

SmartSCORM allows your users to access CybSafe content through your LMS while reporting completion in both CybSafe and your LMS. This method requires SSO for seamless user authentication. More information on SCORM set up here.

Once configured, users can click on training modules within your LMS. They will be redirected to the latest version of CybSafe content, complete their training, and then be automatically redirected back to the LMS.

Pros:

  • Completion data is reported in both CybSafe and your LMS, ensuring accurate tracking.

  • Users can access training from their familiar LMS, reducing friction in the user experience.

Cons:

  • The reporting available in CybSafe will be more limited, as fewer user actions are tracked compared to using the CybSafe Platform directly.

  • Training needs to be assigned manually in both the LMS and CybSafe, which can be time-consuming and you might not make the full use of some features (eg workflows)

  • Users may only engage with CybSafe for training and not other resources.

  • Manual creation of learning objects in the LMS and uploading the SmartSCORM file.

Which Method Should You Choose?

  • For the best user experience and access to full features, using the CybSafe Platform directly is the ideal option.

  • If your users are used to accessing training from your LMS and you need integration with your existing system, SSO links or SmartSCORM may be the best choice.

  • If you need to integrate with an LMS and still capture completion data, SmartSCORM will provide a balance between LMS functionality and CybSafe's features, though it may have some limitations in terms of reporting and user engagement.
