We are committed to creating a product that is inclusive and respectful of all individuals, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, age, or ability. We strive to ensure that no one feels excluded or marginalised by our content, design, or technology choices.
To achieve this, we have taken the following steps:
Diverse representation: We actively seek to represent a wide range of genders, ethnicities, religions, ages, and abilities in our animations and characters. This includes featuring individuals with diverse physical appearances, cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, and age ranges. We also strive to represent individuals with various abilities, such as those with physical or cognitive disabilities.
Inclusive language: We use inclusive language that avoids making assumptions about gender, age, or other personal characteristics. Readability, assessed using the Automated Readability Index, is aimed at a Grade level 6 or lower (10–11 years old), ensuring our content is accessible to a wide audience.
Cultural sensitivity: We are mindful of cultural differences and avoid making assumptions or generalisations about different cultures or religions. We strive to present information in a way that is respectful of diverse cultural perspectives.
Accessibility: We prioritise accessibility in our product design, ensuring that it can be used by people with diverse abilities and needs. We also consider the needs of users with cognitive disabilities, such as providing clear and concise information and avoiding complex language. You can read more on our approach to accessibility here.
Regular accessibility audits: We conduct regular audits of our digital properties to identify and address accessibility issues.
Usability testing: We involve admins and users in usability testing to gain insights into their experiences.
Training and education: We provide ongoing training and education to our teams on accessibility best practices, including topics such as Accessibility Training for UX Writers, Digital Accessibility Excellence: Blueprint To Assess, Build, And Test, and Inclusive Design Patterns.
Alternative formats: Alternative content formats, such as closed captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions, are included in the app for all users.
Continuous improvement: We are committed to ongoing learning and improvement in our efforts to create an inclusive product. We welcome feedback and suggestions from our users to help us identify areas for improvement. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions or feedback.
By taking these steps, we aim to create a product that is welcoming and inclusive for everyone. We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential for creating a positive and enriching user experience.
